Danville Boasts Top Ranking Hospitals
Sovah Health-Danville recently earned a top rating from U.S. News & World Report’s 2024-25 Best Hospitals designation. The local facility was ranked as a high performing hospital for heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia, the hospital reported in a news release yesterday. This marks yet another feather in Danville’s cap that will benefit current residents and draw more retirees to the community in the future.
It marks the highest distinction a hospital can earn in the procedures and conditions rating of U.S. News & World Report. The publishing company evaluated about 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions, according to the release. The “best” designation means a hospital excelled at factors like clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and hospital experience.
“This achievement is a testament to the unwavering commitment and expertise of our dedicated health care professionals who work tirelessly to provide the highest quality of care for our patients,” Sovah Health Market President Steve Heatherly said in a statement. “Our team’s passion for innovation, collaboration and patient-centered care continues to drive us forward in improving outcomes and saving lives.”

“The ‘High Performing’ designation acknowledges hospitals that consistently deliver high-quality care for specific medical procedures and conditions. This recognition highlights their expertise and commitment to patient well-being,” Harder said in a statement. For the calculations, the group looks at each hospital’s performance on measures like risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care. It then measures the outcomes using data from records provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
This year, U.S. News folded in data on care provided to patients with Medicare Advantage insurance and on care provided to outpatients, nearly doubling the number of patients included in its annual data analysis, the release stated. Sovah Health-Danville is accredited by the American College of Cardiology in heart failure, chest pain, stroke and cath lab with percutaneous coronary intervention and is in partnership with the Duke Heart and Telestroke Network Affiliation.
